Jaydee has all his health clearances, hips are OFA good and elbows OFA normal. He's DNA tested normal for CEA/CH and he has also been CERF'd yearly (the last one in February 2008).
Toss is OFA good and DNA tested normal for CEA/CH and she was CERF'd in January 2008. She's also vWD normal.
March update: Toss was bred using fresh-chilled, extended semen on March 15 (vaginal AI) and on March 18 (surgical AI). We would have preferred a natural, live cover, but the logistics (and weather) proved impossible. Indian Ripple Vet clinic in Beavercreek, OH, did the collection and Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital in Inver Grove Heights, MN, did the AI's. Dr. Jim Winsor and his staff are truly great to work with. Now all we do is keep fingers and toes crossed that she "took."
April 13 Update: Toss was confirmed pregnant on Friday, April 11 via ultrasound. There's no way of knowing how many are there, but there are at least 4 - three were visible in one view alone, so it bodes well for a nice sized litter. Her tentative due date (based on 63 days from ovulation - isn't medical science great?!) is May 16th.
May 13 update: Goes to show you, you should never assume anything. There may have been 4 whelps in the ultrasound, but today when Toss was X-rayed, there are only three. Guess we won't have any pups to sell this time around...
May 15 update: Toss decided that today was the day her pups were coming out. She started nesting at 8 a.m. By 3 p.m., there was a pup seemingly "stuck" in the birth canal, and it was coming backwards. So, off we went to Inver Grove Heights Animal Hospital for some assistance. A small dose of oxytocin and at 4 p.m., the first pup was out. A BIG girl, weighing in at 15 1/4 oz. At 4:21, the next pup made her entrance, yep, another girl. She was 15 oz, so another big pup. Then Toss took a break until 5:14 p.m. when the last of the three was born. Since I was hoping for a boy, of course the last one is also a girl - she's the "smallest" at a *mere* 14 oz.... So, three big girls. Mom and babies are all doing well. We'll put up some pictures in a day or two.
May 29 update: They all have their eyes almost all the way open now and today it was like someone put a quarter into them all -- much more active and mobile. Toss will have her paws full in a few days...

| One week old, May 22, and almost doubled in size | Puppy 2 looks the smallest, but the scale tells a different story | Puppy 3 seems the most advanced, at least at this tender age. We've started to call her "Pinky" as she's the most pink. :) |
